Privacy Policy

We collect the following categories of information:

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. There is no user registration or login system in the app.

The app may request the following Android permissions:

• Camera — To scan barcodes and photograph ingredient labels for analysis. Required for core functionality.
• Location (foreground only) — To calculate prayer times, determine Qibla direction, and show nearby halal restaurants and mosques. We do not track your location in the background.
• Notifications — To send optional prayer time reminders (Adhan alerts). You can disable these at any time in your device settings.
• Storage / Media library — To let you select an existing photo from your gallery when uploading an ingredient image.

• Providing halal status results for scanned products using AI ingredient analysis.
• Improving our community product database through voluntary contributions.
• Calculating prayer times and Qibla direction based on your current location.
• Finding halal restaurants and mosques near you.
• Sending optional prayer-time notifications if you have enabled them.
• Displaying advertising to support the free service (see Section 5).
• Monitoring app stability and improving service quality using anonymised scan logs.

We share personal data with the following third-party services only:

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not share your data with any party not listed above.

Nour uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect and use data — including your advertising ID — to show you relevant ads. This data is governed by Google's advertising policies. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through your device settings:

• Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalisation".

Nour does not directly access or store your advertising ID. All advertising data processing is handled by the AdMob SDK.

• Scan history — Stored locally on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Anonymous server-side logs are retained for up to 12 months.
• Uploaded photos — Retained as long as they contribute to our community database. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
• Community reports — Retained for moderation purposes and removed once resolved.
• Location data — Never stored; used only in real time to compute results.

Nour is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Because the app operates without user accounts, most data is already anonymous and cannot be linked back to you. However, you have the right to:

• Clear your local scan history by clearing the app's data in your Android settings.
• Request deletion of any photos or reports you submitted (linked by device ID) by contacting us.
• Opt out of personalised advertising through your device settings.
• Revoke any permission (camera, location, notifications) at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Nour → Permissions.

To submit a data deletion request, contact us at the address in Section 9 with a description of what you'd like removed.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we store, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
